Chevrolet Aveo automatic transmission pan gasket
The automatic transmission pan gasket is an important part that ensures tightness and prevents transmission fluid from leaking from the gearbox. If the gasket is damaged or worn, it can cause serious transmission problems.
Replacing the pan gasket of a Chevrolet Aveo automatic transmission
It is recommended to replace the Chevrolet Aveo automatic transmission pan gasket at a service station. However, if you have the necessary tools and skills, you can perform the replacement yourself.
Tools and materials:
* Wrench set
* Pallet
* Transmission fluid
* New automatic transmission pan gasket
* Carburetor cleaner (optional)
Steps:
1. Prepare the vehicle: Place the vehicle on a level surface and apply the parking brake.
2. Drain the transmission fluid: Unscrew the drain plug on the automatic transmission pan and drain the transmission fluid into the pan.
3. Unscrew the pan bolts: Using a wrench, unscrew the bolts that secure the automatic transmission pan to the transmission.
4. Remove the pan: Carefully remove the pan from the transmission. Be careful not to damage the gasket.
5. Clean surfaces: Thoroughly clean the surfaces of the pan and gearbox to remove any old gasket residue. If necessary, you can use carburetor cleaner to remove carbon deposits and residue.
6. Install a new gasket: Place the new gasket on the automatic transmission pan. Make sure the gasket is properly aligned.
7. Reinstall the pan: Reinstall the pan and tighten the bolts. Tighten the bolts evenly to avoid distortion.
8. Fill with transmission fluid: Pour fresh transmission fluid into the transmission through the filler hole. Check the fluid level and add if necessary.
9. Check for leaks: Start the engine and shift into gear. Check for transmission fluid leaks around the transmission pan.
Notes:
* Use only original automatic transmission pan gasket or a high-quality equivalent.
* Tighten the pan bolts according to the torque specified in the owner’s manual.
* Replacing the automatic transmission pan gasket may reset the adaptive transmission settings. It may be necessary to re-tune the automatic transmission after replacement.
* It is recommended to check the transmission fluid level every 10,000 – 15,000 kilometers.
