How to use the gear shift lever in a Chevrolet Aveo with an automatic transmission:
1. Make sure the brake pedal is depressed.
2. Press the shift lever lock button on the top of the shift lever.
3. Move the gear shift lever to the desired position:
*P (Parking): Keeps the vehicle stationary when parked.
* R (Reverse): Activates reverse gear.
* N (Neutral): Disconnects the transmission from the engine. Used when towing or starting the engine.
* D (Drive): Standard driving mode for most situations.
*2: Limits gearing in the first two gears for added engine braking on slopes or in snow/ice conditions.
*L: Limits gearing to first gear only for maximum engine braking. Used on steep slopes or to overcome obstacles.
4. Release the brake pedal once the gear shift lever is in the desired position.
