Tools and materials:
* Engine oil meeting manufacturer specifications for Touareg automatic transmission
* Funnel
* Gloves (optional)
Steps:
1. Warm up the engine and gearbox:
* Start the engine and warm it up to operating temperature.
* Shift the gear selector to each position and return it back to its original position.
2. Place the car on a flat surface:
* Place the vehicle on a level surface, not on a slope.
3. Open the hood and find the automatic transmission dipstick:
* Open the hood and find the automatic transmission dipstick. On most Touareg models it is located on the driver’s side, in the rear of the engine compartment.
4. Remove and wipe the dipstick:
* Pull out the dipstick and wipe it with a clean cloth.
5. Insert the dipstick back:
*Insert the dipstick completely back into the tube.
6. Remove the dipstick and check the oil level:
* Pull out the dipstick again and check the oil level using the marks on it.
* The oil level should be between the “MIN” and “MAX” marks.
7. Add oil if necessary:
* If the oil level is below the “MIN” mark, add enough oil through the funnel into the dipstick hole.
8. Insert the dipstick back and check the level:
* Insert the dipstick back and check the oil level again.
*If necessary, repeat steps 6 and 7 until the oil level reaches the correct level.
9. Clean the dipstick and reinstall it:
* Wipe the dipstick again and insert it completely into the tube.
10. Close the hood:
* Close the hood and start the engine to make sure the oil level is correct.
