Materials:
* Engine oil for automatic transmission
* Gloves
* Funnel
Tools:
* Automatic transmission oil level dipstick
* Rag or paper napkins
Procedure:
1. Warm up the engine. Start the engine and let it run for 5-10 minutes until it reaches operating temperature.
2. Place the car on a level surface. This will ensure an accurate oil level measurement.
3. Put on gloves and open the hood.
4. Find the automatic transmission oil level dipstick. It is usually located on the right side of the engine. The probe handle can be painted red or yellow.
5. Pull out the dipstick and wipe it with a clean rag or paper towels.
6. Insert the dipstick back into the tube and pull it out again. The tip of the dipstick will be coated with oil.
7. Check the oil level. There are two marks on the dipstick: “hot” and “cold”. The oil level should be between these two marks at engine operating temperature.
8. Add oil if necessary. If the oil level is below the minimum level, add the required amount of oil through the funnel.
9. Check the oil level again. Install the dipstick, check the level and repeat the process until it is between the hot and cold marks.
10. Screw on the oil filler cap.
11. Reset the Check Engine Light. If you have added oil, you may need to reset your Check Engine Light. Refer to your user manual for instructions on how to reset the indicator.
Note:
* Use only engine oil recommended by the manufacturer.
* Do not overfill the gearbox with oil. This may damage the automatic transmission.
* Check the automatic transmission oil level regularly to ensure it is at the proper level.
