Changing the oil in the automatic transmission of Hyundai Grand Starex
Materials:
* Automatic transmission oil Hyundai ATF SP-IV
* Hyundai automatic transmission filter
* Automatic transmission pan gasket
*Torque key
* Magnifying funnel
* Oil filling tube
* Lift or jack
Replacement procedure:
1. Preparing the car
* Place the car on a lift or jack.
* Ensure safety by setting the parking brake and blocking the wheels.
* Warm up the engine to operating temperature.
* Turn off the engine and let the oil cool for 15-20 minutes.
2. Drain old oil
* Find the automatic transmission pan and clean it of dirt.
* Loosen the automatic transmission pan bolts using a torque wrench.
* Remove the bolts and pan, allowing the oil to drain into a container.
* Remove the oil filter located in the pan.
3. Cleaning the automatic transmission pan
* Clean the automatic transmission pan from old oil, chips and deposits.
* Install a new pan gasket.
4. Replacing the automatic transmission filter
* Install a new automatic transmission filter, making sure its position is correct.
5. Installing the automatic transmission pan
* Screw the automatic transmission pan into place using bolts and a torque wrench.
*Tighten the bolts to the specified torque.
6. Filling with new oil
*Using a magnifying funnel and oil fill tube, pour new ATF SP-IV oil into the transmission through the fill plug.
* Fill in about 3-4 liters of oil until it reaches the “HOT” mark on the dipstick.
7. Checking the oil level
* Start the engine and move the gear selector to each position.
* Stop the engine and wait about 1 minute.
* Remove the automatic transmission dipstick and check the oil level. The level should be between the “HOT” and “COLD” marks.
*Add or remove oil if necessary.
8. Reset automatic transmission adaptations
* On some Hyundai Grand Starex models, it may be necessary to reset the automatic transmission adaptations after changing the oil.
*Refer to your vehicle’s owner’s manual for specific instructions on how to reset the gears.
9. Test drive
*Check the transmission by taking it for a short test drive.
* Shift gears to ensure there is no slippage or unusual noise.
Notes:
* It is recommended to change the automatic transmission oil every 60,000 — 80,000 km.
* Use only genuine ATF SP-IV oil or Hyundai approved equivalent.
* Dispose of old oil and filter according to local regulations.
