Tools and materials:
* New automatic transmission oil (type recommended by manufacturer)
* New transmission oil pan gasket
* Transmission pan drain plug (if necessary)
* 17mm hex wrench or similar tool
* Funnel
* Gloves
* Container for draining old oil
Instructions:
1. Prepare the car:
* Place the car on a flat surface.
* Apply the parking brake.
* Allow the engine to cool.
2. Determine the location of the transmission pan:
* Raise the car on a jack or place it on a lift.
*Locate the transmission pan, it is usually located at the bottom of the transmission.
3. Remove the drain plug:
* Remove the transmission pan drain plug using a hex wrench or similar tool.
* Allow the old oil to drain into a drainage container.
4. Remove the transmission pan:
* Remove the bolts securing the pan to the gearbox.
* Carefully remove the pan and look for any gasket that may remain on the pan or on the transmission.
5. Replace the pan gasket:
* Remove the old gasket and clean the surfaces of the pan and gearbox of gasket residues.
* Install a new gasket on the transmission pan and make sure it fits correctly.
6. Install the transmission pan:
* Carefully reinstall the transmission pan and tighten the mounting bolts.
* Tighten the bolts to the recommended torque.
7. Replace the drain plug:
* Replace the drain plug and tighten it to the recommended torque.
8. Fill with new oil:
* Locate the transmission filler hole (usually on the side of the transmission) and use a funnel to fill in new oil.
* The oil level must be as specified in the instruction manual.
9. Check the oil level:
* Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes.
* Select all gears one by one and return to park position.
* Check the oil level using a dipstick or other suitable device.
*Add oil if necessary.
10. Reset the oil change indicator:
*If the oil change light on the instrument panel is on, reset it by following the instructions in your owner’s manual.
11. Secure the vehicle:
* Lower the vehicle from a jack or lift.
