Materials:
* Automatic transmission oil (suitable for Hyundai/Kia ATF SP-IV)
* New oil filter
* Pan gasket
* New drain plug
* Drain plug O-ring
Tools:
* 19mm wrench
* Socket wrench E12
* Metal brush
* Clean rag
* Funnel
* Oil drain pan
Instructions:
1. Preparation:
* Warm up the engine and gearbox to operating temperature.
* Stop the engine and let it cool slightly.
* Jack up the vehicle and secure it securely on jack stands.
2. Draining old oil:
* Find the drain plug on the automatic transmission pan; it is usually located at the bottom.
* Place a tray under the drain plug.
*Using a 19mm wrench, unscrew the drain plug and drain the oil into the pan.
* Clean the drain plug and O-ring with a metal brush.
3. Replacing the oil filter:
* Find the automatic transmission pan and unscrew its bolts using an E12 socket wrench.
* Remove the pan and drain the remaining oil.
* Replace the old oil filter with a new one.
* Install a new pan seal.
4. Installing the automatic transmission pan:
* Clean the surface of the automatic transmission pan from the old gasket.
* Apply a thin layer of sealant to the new gasket.
* Reinstall the pan and tighten the bolts using an E12 socket wrench.
5. Filling with new oil:
* Locate the filler plug on the automatic transmission, it is usually located on the side of the transmission.
* Using a funnel, fill in new automatic transmission oil.
* Fill in the required amount of oil as indicated in the vehicle’s owner’s manual.
6. Checking the oil level:
* Start the engine and warm up the automatic transmission to operating temperature.
* Shift the gear selector to all positions and return to Park.
* Remove the dipstick from the automatic transmission and check the oil level.
*Add oil as needed until the level reaches the «HOT» mark.
7. Retightening the drain plug:
*Using a 19mm wrench, tighten the drain plug to the recommended torque.
8. Resetting the transmission maintenance counter:
*Refer to your vehicle’s owner’s manual for the procedure to reset the transmission maintenance counter.
Adviсe:
* Use only automatic transmission oil recommended by the manufacturer.
* Change the automatic transmission oil and filter in accordance with the interval specified in the vehicle’s operating manual.
* Regularly changing the automatic transmission oil and filter will help extend the life of the gearbox.
