Tools and materials:

* New automatic transmission oil (Dexron III or Dexron VI, depending on the specification of your car)
* New filter for automatic transmission
* New gasket for automatic transmission pan
* Wrench set
* Funnel
* Oil drain hose
* Oil drain container
*Ratchet
* Socket heads
* Gloves

Steps:

1. Vehicle preparation and safety:

* Park the car on a level surface.
* Put the car on the parking brake.
* Allow the engine to cool to avoid burns.

2. Draining old oil:

* Place a container to drain the oil under the automatic transmission pan.
* Loosen the drain plug with a wrench and allow the oil to drain.
* While the oil is draining, remove the automatic transmission pan by unscrewing the nuts or bolts around the perimeter.
* Remove the old pan gasket.

3. Filter replacement:

* Remove the old filter from the automatic transmission.
* Reinstall the new filter.

4. Pallet installation:

* Install a new gasket on the pan.
* Attach the pan to the automatic transmission by tightening the nuts or bolts.

5. Filling with new oil:

* Using a funnel and hose, pour new oil into the automatic transmission through the filler plug.
* Fill with the amount of oil specified in your vehicle’s owner’s manual.

6. Checking the oil level:

* Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes.
* Switch the automatic transmission selector to all positions and return it to parking.
* Measure the oil level using the automatic transmission dipstick. The level should be between the “Min” and “Max” marks.
*Add oil if necessary.

7. Resetting error codes:

* If the battery was disconnected during an oil change, it is necessary to reset the error codes in the automatic transmission.
* Using an error code scanner, connect to the automatic transmission control module and erase all stored codes.

8. Check for leaks:

* Test drive and check for leaks from the automatic transmission.
* If you find a leak, tighten the connections or contact a mechanic.

Note:

*Before performing this procedure, check your vehicle’s owner’s manual for specific instructions.
*Only use the oil and filter recommended for your vehicle.
* Do not overtighten nuts and bolts.
* Dispose of old oil and filter according to local regulations.
* It is recommended to change the automatic transmission oil and filter every 60,000 – 100,000 km.
