Materials:
* Automatic transmission oil (Mitsubishi SP-III recommended)
* Automatic transmission filter
* Automatic transmission pan gasket
* New drain plug (optional)
Tools:
* Flat blade screwdriver
* Wrench or socket (10mm)
* Pliers
* Funnel
Procedure:
1. Preparation:
* Place the vehicle on a level surface and apply the parking brake.
* Let the engine idle for a few minutes to warm up the transmission.
* Stop the engine and let it cool for 15-20 minutes.
2. Draining old oil:
* Locate the automatic transmission pan under the car.
* Place a container under the pan to collect old oil.
* Loosen the pan drain plug using a wrench or socket.
* Drain the oil until it stops leaking. Replace the drain plug with a new gasket (if necessary).
3. Filter replacement:
* Remove the automatic transmission pan using a flat-blade screwdriver. Be careful as there may be some oil left in the pan.
* Replace the automatic transmission filter with a new one.
* Reinstall the pan gasket.
4. Refilling with new oil:
* Insert a funnel into the hole for the automatic transmission dipstick.
* Fill in the recommended amount of automatic transmission oil.
* Reinstall the dipstick and tighten it.
5. Checking the oil level:
* Start the engine and let it idle.
* Switch the automatic transmission selector to the Park position (P).
* After a few minutes, remove the dipstick and check the oil level.
* The oil level should be between the upper and lower marks on the dipstick.
6. Resetting the oil change counter:
* To reset the oil change counter, connect the OBD2 scanner to the car.
* Select engine control module.
* Find the oil change counter reset function.
*Follow the instructions on the scanner to reset the counter.
Note:
* To clean the magnets from metal shavings, you can remove the automatic transmission tray.
* Change the automatic transmission oil in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations (usually every 30,000-60,000 km or more often in severe conditions).
