Materials:

* Honda ATF-Z1 transmission fluid (about 3 liters)
* Automatic transmission pan (gasket)
* Automatic transmission filter
* Brake cleaner
* Funnel
* Set of keys and screwdrivers

Tools:

* Lift or jacks
* Key for draining automatic transmission oil
*Torque key
* Torque wrench

Procedure:

1. Security:

* Make sure the vehicle is in park and the parking brake is set.
* Allow the engine to cool.

2. Draining transmission fluid:

* Raise the vehicle using a lift or place jacks under the front.
* Locate the drain plug on the automatic transmission pan.
* Place a container under the engine to collect waste fluid.
* Using the automatic transmission oil drain wrench, carefully loosen the drain plug and drain the fluid.
* After draining the fluid, tighten the drain plug to 29 Nm.

3. Removing the automatic transmission pan:

* Clean the surface around the automatic transmission pan from dirt.
* Unscrew the bolts securing the pan to the automatic transmission housing.
* Carefully remove the pan, draining the remaining liquid into a container.

4. Replacing the automatic transmission filter:

* Using a screwdriver, remove the old automatic transmission filter from the pan.
* Clean the filter mounting surface with brake cleaner.
* Install the new automatic transmission filter in place.

5. Installing the automatic transmission pan:

* Apply a new gasket to the automatic transmission pan.
* Reinstall the pan and tighten the mounting bolts to 10 Nm.

6. Filling transmission fluid:

*Remove the funnel.
* Check the fluid level using the automatic transmission dipstick.
*Add fluid until it reaches the “Hot” mark on the dipstick.

7. Checking the fluid level:

* Start the engine and warm up the car to operating temperature.
* Shift through all gears and return to parking mode.
*Check the fluid level again while the vehicle is running and in park.
*Add fluid as needed until it reaches the “Hot” mark on the dipstick.

8. Sample cleaning:

* Using brake cleaner, clean the used fluid from the replacement area.

9. Resetting the automatic transmission fluid aging counter:

*Connect the OBD2 scanner to the car.
* Select the “Transmission” menu.
* Find the item “Reset automatic transmission fluid aging counter”.
*Follow the on-screen instructions to reset the counter.

Note:

*If you are unable to perform an oil change yourself, it is recommended that you take it to a qualified mechanic.
* Check and, if necessary, replace the o-ring of the automatic transmission drain plug.
* The location of the drain plug and automatic transmission filter may vary depending on the year and model of the Honda Accord.
