Materials:
* New transmission oil (DEXRON VI)
* New oil pan filter
* Oil pan gasket
* 10 mm head
* Funnel for filling oil
* Rags
Tools:
* Set of keys
* Jack and stands
* Pliers
* Oil key (if available)
Steps:
Preparation:
1. Place the car on stands.
2. Start the engine and warm up the gearbox to operating temperature.
3. Stop the engine.
Oil drain:
1. Place a container under the oil pan to drain the oil.
2. Carefully unscrew the drain plug using a wrench and allow the oil to drain.
3. Remove the oil pan by unscrewing its bolts with a 10 mm socket.
4. Remove the old oil filter.
Replacing the filter and gasket:
1. Install a new oil filter and lubricate its O-ring with new oil.
2. Install a new oil pan gasket.
Installing the oil pan and filling with oil:
1. Clean the surfaces of the oil pan and transmission housing from gasket and sealant residues.
2. Install the oil pan and tighten the bolts with a 10 mm socket.
3. Fill in new oil through the filler plug. The amount of oil required depends on the car model.
4. Check the oil level with a dipstick and add if necessary.
Completion:
1. Install the drain plug with a new washer.
2. Lower the vehicle from the stands.
3. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
4. Shift all gears and check for smooth shifting.
Adviсe:
* It is recommended to change the gearbox oil and filter every 40,000 — 60,000 km.
* If the oil is heavily contaminated or contains metal shavings, contact a mechanic for diagnosis.
* Use only oil recommended by the vehicle manufacturer.
