Tools and materials:
* New Nissan Matic S or Nissan Matic Fluid D gear oil (approx. 4 l)
* New automatic transmission oil filter and pan gasket
* Oil pan for draining used oil
* Wrench set
* Torque wrench
* Tube for draining oil into the canister
Instructions:
1. Preparatory stage
* Place the vehicle on a level surface and set the parking brake.
* Allow the engine to cool.
* Gather the necessary tools and materials.
2. Drain the old oil
* Locate the drain plug on the automatic transmission oil pan (usually in front of the pan).
* Place the oil pan under the drain plug.
* Using a wrench, carefully unscrew the drain plug and allow the used oil to drain into the pan.
3. Replacing the automatic transmission oil filter
*After the oil has been drained, remove the oil pan. It is usually secured with bolts.
* Once the pan is removed, locate the automatic transmission oil filter.
* Carefully remove the oil filter and clean the surface on which it will be installed.
* Install a new oil filter and tighten it by hand.
4. Reinstalling the pan and drain plug
* Clean the surface of the oil pan and automatic transmission pan.
* Apply a small amount of sealant to the corners of the new pan gasket.
* Install the pan gasket onto the oil pan.
* Attach the pan to the automatic transmission using bolts.
* Tighten the bolts with a torque wrench to the torque specified in the owner’s manual.
* Install the drain plug and tighten it.
5. Filling with new oil
* Locate the filler plug on the automatic transmission (usually at the top).
* Insert the tube into the filler hole and fill the automatic transmission with new transmission oil.
* Fill with oil until it begins to flow out of the filler hole.
6. Checking the oil level
* Install the filler plug.
* Start the engine and let it idle.
* Shift the gear selector to all positions and hold each position for a few seconds.
* Return the selector to the Park (P) position.
* Check the oil level on the automatic transmission dipstick. The level should be between the “hot” and “cold” marks.
7. Resetting the automatic transmission oil change counter
* Turn off the ignition.
*Press and hold the “TRIP” button on the dashboard.
* Turn on the ignition and continue to hold the “TRIP” button until the message “OIL LIFE 100%” appears on the display.
* Release the TRIP button and turn off the ignition.
8. Completion
* Move the oil pan and tools under the car.
* Check for oil leaks.
