Location of the brake band adjustment bolt 4F27E automatic transmission:

1. Disconnect the battery and drain the automatic transmission fluid.
2. Remove the automatic transmission pan.
3. Find the brake band, which is located inside the automatic transmission housing.
4. The adjusting bolt is located in the center of the brake band, slightly below the middle.

Brake band adjustment:

1. Insert a flathead screwdriver into the slot of the adjusting bolt.
2. Tighten the bolt clockwise until the band brake stops slipping.
3. Loosen the bolt one and a half turns.

Note:

* Proper adjustment requires a special tool known as a torque wrench.
*If you don’t have a torque wrench, tighten the bolt by feel until the brake band stops slipping, then loosen it a short distance.
*Do not over-tighten the bolt as this may damage the brake band.

After adjustment:

1. Install the automatic transmission pan and tighten the bolts.
2. Fill the automatic transmission with fluid.
3. Connect the battery.
4. Check the fluid level in the automatic transmission and add if necessary.
