Changing the oil in a Chevrolet Aveo automatic transmission

Required tools and materials:

* new oil for automatic transmission (Dexron III/VI, about 5-6 liters)
* new oil pan gasket
* new gearbox oil filter
* 10 mm socket wrench
* 17 mm head with knob
* funnel
* clean container for draining old oil

Instructions:

1. Preparation:

* Put the car on the parking brake and install wheel chocks under the rear wheels.
* Run the engine for 5-10 minutes to warm up the transmission oil.

2. Draining old oil:

* Locate the transmission pan on the bottom of the vehicle.
* Place a container under the pan and unscrew the drain plug with a 10 mm socket wrench.
* Drain the oil into a container. You may need a funnel.

3. Replacing the filter and gasket:

* Remove the oil pan by unscrewing the bolts with a 17 mm socket.
* Replace the transmission oil filter with a new one.
* Clean the pan and install a new gasket.

4. Filling with new oil:

* Fill the transmission with new oil through the dipstick hole or a separate filler hole (depending on the vehicle model).
* Fill in about 4 liters of oil and check the level using the dipstick.

5. Checking the oil level:

* Start the engine and let it idle.
* Shift the gear lever through all positions and return it to the park position.
* Pull out the dipstick and check the oil level. It should be between the “MIN” and “MAX” marks.
*Add more oil if necessary.

6. Completion:

* Reinstall the oil pan and tighten the bolts.
* Install the drain plug and tighten it.
* Reset the automatic transmission service counter (if available).
* Drive the car for about 10 km and check the oil level again.

Adviсe:

* It is recommended to change the gearbox oil every 50,000-100,000 km or every 2-3 years, depending on operating conditions.
*Use only the recommended oil for your car model.
* Dispose of old oil responsibly.
