Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT)

A dual clutch transmission (DCT) is a type of automatic transmission that combines the comfort of an automatic transmission with the control of the gears of a manual transmission.

Peculiarities:

*Two Clutches: The DCT has two clutches – one for odd gears (1, 3, 5) and the other for even gears (2, 4, 6).
* Automatic Gear Select: In automatic mode, DCT selects the optimal gear based on engine rpm, speed and throttle position.
*Manual Mode: The DCT also has a manual mode which allows the driver to change gears manually using the steering wheel paddles or the gear lever.
* Fast Gear Shifting: DCT provides fast and smooth gear shifting through the use of dual clutch.

Advantages of DCT:

* Convenience of automatic transmission
* Control over gears in manual mode
* Fast gear shifting
* Improved fuel efficiency compared to traditional automatic transmissions

Designation:

DCT is often referred to as:

*DSG (Volkswagen)
* PDK (Porsche)
* DCT (Getrag)
* TCT (Alfa Romeo)
