O.D. (Overdrive) is the highest gear in automatic transmissions, which is designed to save fuel and reduce engine speed when driving at high speeds.

O.D. OFF is a function that disables overdrive transmission. This may be useful in the following situations:

* When towing or driving on a slope: Higher gears may cause the transmission to slip or the engine to overheat.
* On slippery roads: O.D. may result in loss of traction when pressing the gas pedal quickly.
* When driving off-road: A higher gear may result in insufficient torque.
*When driving at low speeds: O.D. may make the vehicle less responsive to the gas pedal.

Note:

* Most modern cars have O.D. OFF is activated by pressing a button on the gearshift lever or on the instrument panel.
*On some O.D. vehicles. may automatically turn off in certain situations, such as when the accelerator pedal is pressed hard or when driving on a slope.
