Changing the oil in the variator

Tools and materials:

* New CVT transmission oil (check the specifications for your vehicle)
* Variator filter
* Variator pan gasket
* Tubular wrench or ratchet screwdriver
* Funnel
* Gloves

Instructions:

1. Prepare the vehicle: Place the vehicle on a level surface and set the parking brake. Allow the engine to cool.
2. Locate the drain plug: Check the CVT pan and locate the drain plug.
3. Drain the old oil: Place a container under the drain plug and carefully unscrew it. Drain the oil into a container.
4. Replace the filter: After draining the oil, remove the variator pan by unscrewing the bolts. Replace the old filter with a new one.
5. Clean the pan: Clean the variator pan from any remaining oil and chips. Replace the pan gasket.
6. Install the pan: Install the CVT pan in place and tighten the bolts.
7. Fill with new oil: Using a funnel, fill the CVT with new CVT oil. Make sure you add the correct amount and type of oil.
8. Check the oil level: Check the oil level in the variator using the dipstick. It should be between the “Min” and “Max” marks.
9. Reset the service counter: If your vehicle is equipped with a CVT service counter, reset it by following the instructions in your owner’s manual.

Additional tips:

* CVT transmission oil requires replacement every 60,000-80,000 km or more often depending on operating conditions.
*Using the wrong type of oil may damage the CVT.
*If you are unsure of your skills, have your CVT oil changed by a qualified mechanic.
