Gear selector positions for automatic transmission
P (Parking)
* Locks the transmission, preventing the vehicle from moving.

N (Neutral)

D (Drive)

R (Reverse)

L (Low, low)
* Locks the transmission in first gear for maximum traction.
M (Manual)
* Allows the driver to manually change gears using the steering wheel paddle shifters.
+ and – (steering wheel paddle shifters)
*Used in M mode to upshift or downshift.
Kickdown
* When you press the gas pedal sharply, the transmission downshifts for quick acceleration.
