Adjusting the automatic transmission of Toyota Corolla 120
Required tools:
* 4 mm hex key
* Phillips screwdriver
* Torque wrench
* Removable device for hundred ring
Instructions:
1. Prepare the car:
* Start the car and let it idle for a few minutes.
* Shift the gear selector to position “P”.
* Place the car on a lift or use jacks and stands.
2. Remove the automatic transmission oil pan:
* Unscrew the drain plug and drain the automatic transmission oil.
* Remove the bolts securing the oil pan.
* Carefully remove the oil pan, being careful not to spill any remaining oil.
3. Find the adjusting bolt:
* The bolt is located on the right side of the automatic transmission housing, next to the solenoid block.
*It has a 4mm hex head.
4. Loosen the standing ring:
* Insert the ring puller into the hole next to the adjusting bolt.
*Remove the standing ring.
5. Adjust the adjusting bolt:
* Tighten the adjusting bolt with a torque wrench to 2.2 Nm.
* Check whether the gear selector cable moves freely enough.
6. Install the stand ring:
* Install the new stand ring in place.
7. Install the automatic transmission oil pan:
* Install the gasket on the automatic transmission oil pan.
* Reinstall the oil pan and tighten the bolts.
8. Fill the automatic transmission oil:
*Using a funnel, pour ATF oil into the gearbox.
* Add oil until it begins to flow out of the inspection plug hole.
* Insert the inspection plug and tighten it.
9. Check the oil level:
* Start the car and let it run for a few minutes.
* Shift the gear selector to each position for a few seconds.
*Place the vehicle in “P” position.
* Check the automatic transmission oil level using the dipstick.
* The oil level should be between the “H” and “L” marks on the dipstick.
10. Clean the crankcase and tighten the drain plug:
* Clean the automatic transmission crankcase from oil.
* Tighten the drain plug to 23 Nm.
Adviсe:
* The use of a new adjusting bolt and ring is highly recommended.
