Pump

* Creates a flow of liquid under pressure.
* Consists of turbine wheel, pump cover and pump shaft.
*Driven by motor.

Turbine

* Converts fluid energy from the pump into mechanical energy.
* Consists of a turbine wheel and a turbine housing.
* Connects to the gearbox shaft.

Stator

* Changes the direction of fluid flow between the pump and turbine.
* Consists of stator blades located in the housing.
* Provides torque converter lock-up at high speeds.

Friction clutch

* Locks the turbine with the engine shaft, eliminating slippage at high speeds.
* Consists of friction discs compressed by a piston and spring.

Pump shaft

* Transmits torque from the motor to the pump.
*Hollow for transmission fluid passage.

Turbine shaft

* Transmits torque from the turbine to the gearbox shaft.
*Hollow for transmission fluid passage.

Torque converter housing

* Covers all torque converter components and contains transmission fluid.
*Connects with transmission oil pump to circulate fluid.

Transmission fluid

* Lubricates and cools torque converter components.
* Transfers energy between pump and turbine.
