Automatic transmission self-diagnosis Subaru Legacy

1. Connecting the self-diagnosis mode

* Set the gear shift lever to the “N” position.
* Press and hold the “Odometer Reset” button on the instrument panel.
* Turn the ignition key to the “On” position. (The engine will not start).
* Release the “Odometer Reset” button.
* Press and hold the button again for 5 seconds.
* The gear shift lever should shift to “D” mode.
* Press the accelerator pedal with the engine running.

2. Reading fault codes

* A blinking Check Engine light indicates the first fault code.
*Wait a short pause.
* The following blinking of the Check Engine Light indicates a second fault code.
* The process continues until all fault codes have been read.
* Codes may be repeated several times.

3. Decoding fault codes

* P0700: Transmission system malfunction
* P0705: Current sensor fault
* P0710: Transmission speed sensor malfunction
* P0715: Shift control solenoid malfunction
* P0720: Output Shaft Speed ​​Sensor Malfunction
* P0725: Input Shaft Speed ​​Sensor Malfunction
* P0730: Transmission fault with incorrect gear ratio
* P0735: Torque Converter Lockup Solenoid Malfunction
* P0740: Hydraulic control solenoid malfunction
* P0745: Transmission fluid pressure sensor malfunction

4. Exit self-diagnosis mode

* Turn the ignition key to the “Off” position.
*Wait 10 seconds.
* Start the engine as usual.

5. Reset fault codes

To reset fault codes, you must:

* Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery for 10 minutes.
* Reconnect the terminal.
* Start the engine.
