Actions when stopping at a traffic light with an automatic transmission:
1. Place the gear selector in the “N” (neutral) position.
2. Keep your foot on the brake pedal. Do not release the brake pedal as this may cause the vehicle to move.
3. Shift the transmission selector back to “D” (Drive) as soon as the light turns green.
4. Take your foot off the brake pedal and press the gas pedal to continue driving.
Adviсe:
* When stopping for a long time (more than 30 seconds), it is advisable to switch the gearbox selector to the “P” (parking) position. This will help save fuel and reduce the load on the transmission.
* Do not shift to “N” position while driving. This can cause serious damage to the transmission.
* Do not release the brake pedal when shifting the gear selector. This may also damage the transmission.
Additionally:
* Some modern cars have a function that automatically stops the engine when stopped. In this case, the engine will automatically turn off when you stop at a traffic light. When you release the brake pedal, the engine will automatically start.
*If your vehicle is equipped with a push-button start system, you can turn off the engine by placing the vehicle in park and holding the start/stop button until the engine turns off. To restart the engine, press the start/stop button again.
