Possible causes and solutions:

1. Low transmission fluid level:
* Check the transmission fluid level and top up if necessary. This can lead to a lack of pressure and difficult gear shifting.

2. Contaminated transmission fluid:
* Dirty or old fluid can cause friction and difficulty shifting gears. Change the fluid according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.

3. Faulty solenoid:
* Solenoids control the flow of fluid in the transmission. A faulty solenoid can cause shifting problems. Replace the faulty solenoid.

4. Loose torque converter mount:
* The torque converter connects the engine to the transmission. A loose connection can cause vibration and noise when shifting gears. Tighten or replace fastener.

5. Faulty Transmission Control Module (TCM):
* The TCM controls gear shifting. A faulty TCM can cause the transmission to shift incorrectly. Diagnose and, if necessary, replace the TCM.

6. Worn friction discs:
* Friction discs transfer power from the engine to the gearbox. Worn discs can slip when changing gears, causing noise. Replace worn discs.

7. Faulty hydraulic unit:
* The hydraulic unit directs pressurized hydraulic fluid to control the gears. A faulty unit can lead to gear shifting problems. Replace the faulty hydraulic unit.

8. Defective output shaft:
* The output shaft connects the transmission to the driveshaft (rear-wheel drive vehicles) or differential (front-wheel drive vehicles). A faulty output shaft can cause noise when shifting gears. Replace the faulty output shaft.

9. Faulty input shaft speed sensor:
* The input shaft speed sensor tells the TCM about engine speed. A faulty sensor may result in incorrect gear shifting. Replace the faulty sensor.

10. Faulty throttle position sensor:
* The throttle position sensor tells the TCM about the throttle position. A faulty sensor may result in incorrect gear shifting. Replace the faulty sensor.
