Automatic transmission shift valve repair
Required tools and materials:
* Set of socket wrenches
* Screwdrivers
* Transmission fluid
* Automatic transmission filter (if necessary)
* Gaskets and seals (if necessary)
Repair stages:
1. Preparation
* Determine the model and type of automatic transmission.
* Gather the necessary tools and materials.
* Place the car on a lift or stands.
* Drain the transmission fluid.
2. Removing the automatic transmission pan
* Unscrew the pan bolts.
* Remove the tray by gently pulling it down.
* Clean the pan of old transmission fluid and shavings.
3. Removing the valve block
* Locate the valve block, usually located inside the transmission pan.
* Disconnect the electrical connectors.
* Remove the bolts holding the valve block.
* Carefully remove the unit.
4. Disassembly and inspection
* Disassemble the valve block, removing solenoids, springs and seals.
* Inspect components for wear, damage or contamination.
5. Cleaning and restoration
* Clean all components using carburetor cleaner or solvent.
* Replace worn or damaged parts.
* Clean the passages in the valve block using clean compressed air.
6. Assembly
* Reassemble the valve block with new seals and springs.
* Tighten the bolts to the specified torque.
7. Installation
* Install the valve block back into the automatic transmission pan.
* Tighten the bolts to the specified torque.
* Connect the electrical connectors.
8. Installing the automatic transmission pan
* Install a new gasket on the pan and tighten the bolts to the specified torque.
9. Filling transmission fluid
* Pour fresh transmission fluid into the automatic transmission through the control plug or dipstick.
*Add to the level indicated on the dipstick.
10. Testing
* Start the engine and allow the transmission fluid to reach operating temperature.
*Change gears to ensure they shift smoothly and without slipping.

* Entrust this work to an experienced mechanic if you do not have experience repairing automatic transmissions.
* The tightening torque of the bolts may vary depending on the automatic transmission model. Check your vehicle’s repair manual for exact values.
