Steps to replace the transmission in a car

1. Preparation

* Gather the necessary tools and spare parts.
* Disconnect the battery.
* Raise the car and place it on stands.

2. Draining transmission fluid

* Locate the transmission fluid drain plug on the oil pan and remove it.
*Collect the liquid in a suitable container.

3. Removing the old gearbox

* Disconnect all electrical connectors, sensors and actuators connected to the transmission.
* Remove the bolts securing the transmission lines and drive shafts.
* Disconnect the gear shift rod and speedometer drive.
* Lower the subframe supporting the transmission.
* Remove the bolts or latches securing the transmission to the engine.
* Carefully slide the transmission rearward to disengage it from the engine.

4. Installation of a new gearbox

* Place the new gearbox in place and carefully slide it onto the clutch shaft.
* Install the bolts or latches securing the transmission to the engine and tighten them.
* Lift the subframe and attach it to the car body.
* Connect the shift rod and speedometer drive.
* Screw in the transmission lines and drive shafts.

5. Connecting electrical equipment

* Connect all electrical connectors, sensors and actuators to the transmission.

6. Filling with transmission fluid

* Locate the transmission fluid fill plug on the transmission.
* Fill with the recommended type and volume of transmission fluid.

7. Startup and testing

* Connect the battery.
* Start the engine.
* Check transmission fluid levels.
* Shift gears to check proper operation.
