Transmission oil cooler (automatic transmission cooler)

Purpose:

* Cools transmission oil in an automatic transmission (automatic transmission).
* Prevents overheating of the automatic transmission and failure of its components.

Location:

*Located next to the main engine cooling radiator.
* Connected to the automatic transmission with flexible hoses.

Design:

* Consists of tubes, plates and tanks.
* The tubes conduct transmission oil, and the plates increase the heat transfer area.
* Tanks serve to collect oil and remove air.

Operation:

* Transmission oil circulates through the automatic transmission radiator.
* Air passing through the radiator cools the oil.
* Cooled oil returns to the automatic transmission, preventing overheating.

Signs of malfunction:

* Automatic transmission overheating
* Smell of burnt oil
*Transmission oil leak
* Darkening or cloudiness of transmission oil

Replacement:

* It is recommended to replace the automatic transmission radiator in accordance with the vehicle manufacturer’s recommendations.
* To replace the radiator you must:
* Drain transmission oil
* Disconnect radiator hoses
* Remove the old radiator
* Install a new radiator
* Connect hoses
* Fill in transmission oil

Note:

* For optimal operation of the automatic transmission radiator, it is necessary to monitor the level and condition of the transmission oil.
* It is recommended to regularly carry out automatic transmission maintenance, which includes checking and replacing the oil and filter.
