Automatic transmission pressure sensor for Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ

Article: 52119033AA

Location:

* To the right of the gearbox, next to the oil filter

Compatibility:

* Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ (1999-2004) with automatic transmission 45RFE

Function:

The transmission pressure sensor monitors transmission fluid pressure and transmits information to the transmission control module (TCM). The TCM uses this data to control transmission pressure to ensure smooth transmission operation.

Symptoms of a faulty automatic transmission pressure sensor:

*Hard shifting
* Delay when switching gears
* Gear slippage
* Increased fuel consumption
*Check Engine Light Illuminates

Replacing the automatic transmission pressure sensor:

1. Place the vehicle in park and apply the parking brake.
2. Determine the location of the automatic transmission pressure sensor.
3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the sensor.
4. Using a spanner or ratchet, unscrew the sensor.
5. Clean the surface of the gearbox from old sealant.
6. Apply a thin layer of transmission sealant to the threads of the new sensor.
7. Screw the new sensor into the transmission and hand-tighten it.
8. Connect the electrical connector to the sensor.
9. Reset fault codes (if any).
10. Start the car and check the transmission fluid pressure using a scan tool.

Note: It is recommended that you have your transmission pressure sensor replaced by a qualified mechanic.
