Materials required to replace the automatic transmission position sensor on a Ford Focus 2:

* New automatic transmission position sensor
* Torx key T27
* 10mm wrench
* Flat blade screwdriver

Replacement Instructions:

1. Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery. To do this, loosen the terminal nut with a 10 mm wrench and remove the terminal from the battery.

2. Determine the location of the automatic transmission position sensor. It is installed on the automatic transmission housing, usually in the upper part.

3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the sensor. Press the latch on the connector and gently pull the connector to disconnect it.

4. Unscrew the sensor mounting bolt using a Torx T27 wrench. Be careful not to drop the bolt.

5. Remove the old sensor. To do this, use a flat blade screwdriver and carefully pry the sensor to release it.

6. Install a new sensor. Lubricate the O-ring of the new sensor with a small amount of transmission fluid and insert the sensor into the hole.

7. Tighten the sensor mounting bolt using a T27 Torx wrench. Do not overtighten the bolt.

8. Connect the electrical connector to the sensor. Make sure the connector is securely seated.

9. Connect the negative terminal of the battery. Install the terminal onto the battery and tighten the nut with a 10mm wrench.

10. Reset the fault code (if present). To do this, use the OBD2 diagnostic scanner.

11. Check that the automatic transmission is operating correctly. Drive the car and make sure that the automatic transmission shifts gears smoothly and without slipping.
