3. Unscrew the pan bolts. There are about 10-12 bolts around the pan. Unscrew them a few turns.
4. Pry off the pallet. Use a thin screwdriver or plastic wedge to carefully pry the transmission pan and separate it from the transmission housing.
5. Remove the pan and the old gasket. Remove the automatic transmission pan and the old gasket. Clean the surfaces of the pan and gearbox housing from the remains of the old gasket and sealant.
6. Install a new gasket. Install a new gasket onto the transmission pan, making sure it is positioned correctly.
7. Apply sealant (optional). If desired, you can apply a thin layer of sealant to the junction of the pan and the gearbox housing for additional sealing.
8. Reinstall the pan. Lift the automatic transmission pan with the new gasket and install it in place. Hand tighten the bolts and then use a wrench or ratchet to tighten them until they are snug.
9. Fill the automatic transmission oil. Fill in new oil through the automatic transmission filler neck. The oil level should be between the “min” and “max” marks on the dipstick.
10. Check the oil level. Check the automatic transmission oil level after the engine has warmed up and idled for several minutes. Add oil if necessary.
11. Check for leaks. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. Check the automatic transmission pan for oil leaks. If there are leaks, tighten the pan bolts.
