Tools and materials:
* New automatic transmission pan gasket
* Sealant for automatic transmission (optional)
* 10 mm wrench
* 17 mm wrench
* Flat head screwdriver
* Clean rags
* Container for draining old automatic transmission oil (optional)
Instructions:
1. Preparation:
* Turn off the engine and let it cool.
* Lock the wheels with the parking brake.
* Raise the car using a jack and place it on secure supports.
2. Draining the automatic transmission oil (optional):
If you want to drain the automatic transmission oil before removing the pan, follow these steps:
* Find the automatic transmission pan drain plug.
* Place a container to drain the oil under the drain plug.
* Carefully unscrew the drain plug to drain the oil.
3. Removing the automatic transmission pan:
* Locate the automatic transmission pan mounting bolts around the perimeter.
*Use a 10mm and 17mm wrench to loosen the bolts.
* Carefully pry the pan with a flat-head screwdriver to separate it from the automatic transmission housing.
* Be prepared for a small amount of oil to leak out.
4. Replacing the gasket:
* Remove the old gasket from the pan and automatic transmission housing.
* If necessary, apply a thin layer of automatic transmission sealant to the new gasket.
* Install a new gasket on the pan.
5. Pallet installation:
* Lift the pan into place and align the mounting bolts.
* Tighten the bolts by hand and then tighten them with a wrench to the required torque.
6. Filling automatic transmission oil (optional):
If you have drained the automatic transmission oil, fill in new oil through the filler neck on the side of the automatic transmission.
7. Checking the oil level:
* Start the engine and let it idle.
*Place the gear selector in «P» position and remove the dipstick to check the oil level.
* The oil level should be between the “MIN” and “MAX” marks on the dipstick.
8. Final check:
* Check the car for leaks.
* Make sure all bolts are tightened properly.
* Remove the vehicle from the supports and lower it to the ground.
