Required materials:

* New automatic transmission pan gasket
* Automatic transmission oil
* Drain plug gasket
* Automatic transmission filter (optional, but recommended)

Tools:

* Wrench set
* Hex key
* Hexagonal wrench
* Bucket or drain pan
* Funnel

Instructions:

1. Prepare the vehicle: Set the parking brake and allow the vehicle to cool if it has been running recently.

2. Drain the automatic transmission oil:
* Locate the drain plug on the automatic transmission pan.
* Place a drain pan under the drain plug.
* Carefully unscrew the drain plug with a hex wrench.
* Allow the oil to drain completely.

3. Remove the automatic transmission pan:
* Unscrew the bolts securing the automatic transmission pan to the gearbox housing.
* Carefully separate the tray from the body and remove it.

4. Replace the gasket:
* Remove the old gasket from the pan and automatic transmission housing.
* Install a new gasket on the automatic transmission housing.

5. Install the automatic transmission pan:
* Carefully install the pan onto the automatic transmission housing, aligning the gasket.
* Tighten the bolts securing the pan, observing the recommended tightening torque.

6. Install a new drain plug:
* Apply some thread sealant to the threads of the new drain plug.
* Screw the drain plug into the automatic transmission pan and tighten it using a hex wrench.

7. Fill in new automatic transmission oil:
* Using a funnel, pour the appropriate amount of oil into the automatic transmission, following the manufacturer’s instructions.

8. Install a new automatic transmission filter (optional):
* If you decide to replace the automatic transmission filter, disconnect the oil pipes leading to the filter and remove the old filter.
* Install a new filter and secure the oil pipes.

9. Check the automatic transmission oil level:
* Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
* Shift through all automatic transmission gears, stopping in each gear for a few seconds.
* Set the gear selector to the “Park” position and check the automatic transmission oil level using the dipstick. The oil should be between the “Min” and “Max” marks.
*Add oil if necessary.

10. Reset the automatic transmission oil change counter (optional):
* Some Kia Sorento models may have a built-in automatic transmission oil change counter.
*Find the meter reset procedure in your vehicle’s owner’s manual.
