Replacing the automatic transmission pan gasket in a Kia Picanto

Tools and materials:

* Wrench set
* O-ring for automatic transmission pan
*Oil filter gasket
* Automatic transmission oil
*Clean rag or paper towels
* Gloves
* Funnel

Procedure:

1. Preparation:

* Make sure the engine and gearbox are cold.
* Place the vehicle on a level surface and apply the parking brake.
* Place a container under the car to catch the oil.

2. Draining the automatic transmission oil:

* Locate the automatic transmission pan under the bottom of the car.
* Unscrew the pan drain plug using a wrench.
* Drain the oil into a container.
* Tighten the drain plug.

3. Removing the pallet:

* Unscrew the bolts securing the pan to the automatic transmission housing using a wrench.
* Carefully remove the tray.
* Clean the surface of the pan and automatic transmission housing from the old gasket.

4. Installing a new gasket:

* Apply a little automatic transmission oil to the new gasket.
* Install a new gasket on the pan.

5. Pallet installation:

* Apply a small amount of sealant to the surface of the automatic transmission housing where the pan is installed.
* Reinstall the pan and tighten the bolts.

6. Replacing the oil filter gasket:

* If the oil filter is built into the pan, replace it with a new gasket.
* Lubricate the new gasket with automatic transmission oil.
* Install a new gasket on the oil filter.

7. Filling automatic transmission oil:

* Open the hood and use a funnel to pour new automatic transmission oil into the filler hole.
* The oil level should correspond to the mark on the dipstick.

8. Checking the oil level:

* Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes.
* Check the oil level by removing the dipstick, wiping it off and reinserting it.
* The oil level should be between the “MIN” and “MAX” marks on the dipstick.

9. Cleaning:

* Wipe up any oil spills.
* Make sure all bolts and plugs are tight.

Adviсe:

* A special wrench may be required to replace the oil filter gasket.
* Use only automatic transmission oil recommended by the manufacturer.
* Do not overtighten the pan bolts to avoid damaging the gasket.
* Check the automatic transmission oil level regularly to maintain its optimal level.
