* Container for collecting transmission fluid
*Brake cleaner or degreaser
Instructions:
1. Ensure safety: Set the vehicle’s parking brake and block the wheels.
2. Raise the vehicle: Raise the front of the vehicle on a lift or stand on trestles.
3. Drain the transmission fluid: Place a container under the automatic transmission pan and remove the drain plug with a 17 mm hexagon.
4. Disconnect the battery terminal: To reset the automatic transmission control system memory, disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
5. Remove the pan protection: If the automatic transmission pan protection is installed, remove it using a 10 mm hexagon.
6. Loosen the pan bolts: Using a pan bolt wrench or 19mm socket wrench, loosen the pan bolts around the perimeter, but do not remove them completely.
7. Separate the pan: Using a flat-head screwdriver, carefully separate the pan from the automatic transmission housing. Do not use excessive force to avoid damaging the gasket.
8. Remove the old gasket: Remove the old gasket from the pan and clean the surfaces of the pan and automatic transmission housing from gasket and sealant residues.
9. Apply a new gasket: Apply a thin bead of transmission lubricant to the gasket surfaces that contact the pan and transmission housing.
10. Install the pan: Install the pan on the automatic transmission housing and tighten the bolts by hand.
11. Tighten the pan bolts: Using a wrench or socket wrench, tighten the pan bolts to the recommended torque (consult your owner’s manual).
12. Install the sump guard: If the sump guard is installed, install it in place and tighten the bolts.
13. Fill with transmission fluid: Fill with transmission fluid through the automatic transmission filler hole. Check the fluid level with the dipstick and add if necessary.
14. Connect the battery terminal: Connect the negative terminal of the battery.
15. Reset the memory of the automatic transmission control system: Start the engine and let it idle for several minutes. Then shift the gear lever through all positions (P, R, N, D) and return to position P.
16. Check for leaks: Stop the engine and check the automatic transmission pan for leaks. Tighten the bolts if necessary.
