Hyundai Solaris automatic transmission back flushing

Automatic transmission backflushing is a procedure in which a special solution is pumped into the transmission in the opposite direction to remove contaminants and deposits. Here’s how to backflush a Hyundai Solaris automatic transmission:

Materials and tools:

* Automatic transmission backwash machine
* Solution for washing automatic transmission
* New transmission oil and filter
* Transmission pan and filter gaskets
* Tools for automatic transmission maintenance (ratchet wrench, socket heads, wrench)

Procedure:

1. Prepare the vehicle: Stop the engine, set the vehicle’s parking brake and lift the front end to provide access to the automatic transmission.
2. Disconnect the battery: Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to discharge the vehicle’s electrical systems.
3. Drain the automatic transmission oil: Remove the drain plug from the transmission oil pan and drain the old transmission oil into a container.
4. Remove the transmission pan and filter: Remove the bolts securing the transmission pan and carefully separate it from the transmission. Then remove the old automatic transmission filter.
5. Clean the transmission pan and filter: Clean the transmission pan and the old filter from dirt and deposits.
6. Install a new automatic transmission filter: Install a new automatic transmission filter into the filter housing and tighten it with bolts.
7. Connect the backwash machine: Connect the backwash machine to the automatic transmission cooling lines. Typically the coolant supply and return lines are used.
8. Fill the wash solution: Pour the wash solution into the reservoir of the backwash machine and connect the machine to the power source.
9. Perform the backwash procedure: Run the backwash machine and follow the manufacturer’s instructions for timing and flow rate. The flushing solution will circulate through the automatic transmission in the opposite direction, removing dirt and deposits.
10. Drain the flush solution: After completing the backwash procedure, drain the flush solution and thoroughly clean all lines and components.
11. Install the automatic transmission pan: Reinstall the automatic transmission pan using a new gasket and tighten the bolts.
12. Fill with new transmission oil: Fill the automatic transmission with new transmission oil through the filler plug. Use the oil level to check the fluid level.
13. Check the operation of the automatic transmission: Start the engine and move the gear selector to all positions. Check that gear shifts smoothly and there are no leaks.
14. Connect the battery: Connect the negative terminal of the battery.

Note:

*Before performing an automatic transmission backflush, make sure the transmission is in good working order.
*Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for using the backwash machine and wash solution.
* After backwashing, it is recommended to replace the transmission oil and filter.
* Automatic transmission backflushing should be performed by a trained specialist or at a car service center.
