Location of the automatic transmission oil pressure sensor in Mazda 6:
The automatic transmission oil pressure sensor is located on the automatic transmission oil filter housing. It is usually secured with one bolt.
Sensor function:
The automatic transmission oil pressure sensor measures the hydraulic fluid pressure in the automatic transmission housing. It transmits a signal to the transmission control module (TCM), which uses this information to adjust gear shifting and protect the transmission.
Symptoms of sensor malfunction:
* Fault codes related to automatic transmission oil pressure
* Problems with gear shifting
*Transmission slipping
*Transmission overheating
*Transmission fault warning light is on
Sensor check:
To check the automatic transmission oil pressure sensor, you will need an OBD2 scanner.
1. Connect the OBD2 scanner to the vehicle’s diagnostic connector.
2. Turn on the ignition, but do not start the engine.
3. Go to real-time data and find the automatic transmission oil pressure reading.
4. There should be low or no pressure when the engine is not running.
5. Start the engine. The pressure should increase as engine speed increases.
Sensor replacement:
If the sensor is faulty, it must be replaced.
1. Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
2. Locate the automatic transmission oil pressure sensor on the oil filter housing.
3. Unscrew the sensor bolt and disconnect the electrical connector.
4. Install the new sensor and tighten the bolt.
5. Connect the electrical connector.
6. Connect the negative terminal of the battery.
7. Clear fault codes.
