Required tools:
* New automatic transmission oil pressure sensor
* Set of keys
* Container for collecting automatic transmission oil
* Rags
Replacement procedure:
1. Safety First: Make sure the engine and transmission are cool before starting work. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
2. Locate the sensor: The automatic transmission oil pressure sensor is usually located on the side of the transmission housing.
3. Drain the automatic transmission oil: Place a container under the automatic transmission crankcase drain plug and unscrew it. Drain the automatic transmission oil into a container until it stops pouring out.
4. Disconnect the electrical connector: Locate and disconnect the oil pressure sensor electrical connector.
5. Remove the old sensor: Using a suitable wrench, remove the old oil pressure sensor from the transmission housing.
6. Clean the threads: Clean the threads on the transmission housing of any dirt or debris.
7. Install New Sensor: Apply a small amount of sealant to the threads of the new sensor and hand screw it into the transmission housing. Tighten the sensor to the specified torque specified in your vehicle’s manual.
8. Connect the electrical connector: Connect the electrical connector to the new oil pressure sensor.
9. Fill the automatic transmission oil: Screw in the automatic transmission crankcase drain plug and fill the transmission with fresh automatic transmission oil to the recommended level.
10. Connect the battery: Connect the negative terminal of the battery.
11. Start the engine: Start the engine and check for oil leaks from the new oil pressure sensor. If everything is ok, change gears and drive for a while to give the transmission time to adapt to the new sensor.
Note:
*Always use a new oil pressure sensor recommended by the manufacturer.
*The tightening torque of the oil pressure sensor may vary depending on the vehicle model. Be sure to check your vehicle’s owner’s manual for the exact value.
*If you are unsure of your abilities, seek assistance from a qualified mechanic.
