Automatic transmission oil cooler Hyundai Elantra

The automatic transmission oil cooler is designed to cool the transmission fluid in an automatic transmission. It is usually integrated into or located next to the engine radiator.

Hyundai Elantra uses a direct type of oil cooler.

Oil cooler location:

* The lower part of the engine radiator, directly below the coolant pipes.

Replacing the oil cooler of an automatic transmission Hyundai Elantra

Tools:

* 10mm wrench or socket
* 12mm wrench or socket
* Pliers
* Container for draining liquid
* New radiator gaskets

Steps:

1. Raise and secure the vehicle on the lift.
2. Drain the transmission fluid: Unscrew the drain plug of the automatic transmission oil pan and drain the fluid into a container.
3. Remove the pipes: Disconnect the coolant pipes from the oil cooler using pliers.
4. Unscrew the mounting bolts: Unscrew the bolts securing the oil cooler to the engine radiator.
5. Remove the oil cooler: Carefully pull the oil cooler out of the engine radiator.
6. Replace gaskets: Install new gaskets on the ends of the oil cooler.
7. Install a new oil cooler: Insert the new oil cooler into the engine radiator and tighten the mounting bolts.
8. Connect the pipes: Connect the coolant pipes to the oil cooler and secure them with clamps.
9. Fill with transmission fluid: Fill the required amount of new transmission fluid into the automatic transmission.
10. Check the fluid level: Check the fluid level in the automatic transmission and add it if necessary.
11. Lower the car: Lower the car from the lift and check the connection for leaks.

Recommendations:

* Use only original or manufacturer-recommended transmission fluids.
* Tighten the mounting bolts to the recommended torque.
* Flush the engine radiator when replacing the automatic transmission oil cooler.
* Maintain your automatic transmission regularly to prevent problems with the oil cooler.
