Tools and materials:
* New transmission oil (check with vehicle owner’s manual)
* New oil pump filter
* New automatic transmission oil pan gasket
* Automatic transmission oil filter (if applicable)
* Funnel
* Ratchet wrench
* Head with extension and jack
*Torque key
* Oil pan
Steps:
1. Raise the vehicle: Raise and secure the vehicle on a lift or wheel stands. Allow the transmission to cool.
2. Drain the old oil: Place the oil pan under the automatic transmission oil pan. Unscrew the drain plug and drain the old oil.
3. Remove the automatic transmission oil pan:
* Unscrew the oil pan bolts and carefully remove it along with the gasket.
* Clean the oil pan and magnet from metal particles.
4. Replace the oil pump filter:
* Remove the bolts holding the oil pump filter.
*Remove the old filter and replace it with a new one.
* Install and tighten bolts to torque specifications.
5. Replace the automatic transmission oil filter (if applicable):
* Locate the automatic transmission oil filter.
* Remove the screws or latches holding the filter in place.
*Remove and replace the old filter with a new one.
* Install and tighten screws or latches.
6. Install a new oil pan gasket:
* Clean the surface of the oil pan and automatic transmission pan from the old gasket.
* Install a new gasket on the oil pan.
7. Install the oil pan:
* Install the oil pan and hand tighten the bolts.
*Use a torque wrench to tighten bolts to specifications.
8. Fill with new oil:
* Using a funnel, pour new transmission oil through the dipstick hole.
* Check the oil level using the dipstick and add if necessary.
9. Lower the car and reset the automatic transmission oil change counter:
* Lower the vehicle to the ground.
*If your vehicle is equipped with a data reading system, reset the automatic transmission oil change counter according to the instructions in your owner’s manual.
Notes:
* It is recommended to change transmission oil and automatic transmission filters in accordance with the intervals specified in the owner’s manual for your vehicle.
*Always use gear oil that meets the specifications in your owner’s manual.
* Be careful when working with hot oil and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
