Required tools and materials:
* New automatic transmission oil (type T-IV)
* Automatic transmission oil pan filter
* Automatic transmission oil pan gasket
* Car repair tool kit
* Funnel for filling oil
* Measuring container
*Clean rags or paper towels
Step by step instructions:
1. Prepare the car:
* Park the car on a level surface.
* Put the car on the parking brake.
* Allow the engine to cool for at least 30 minutes.
2. Drain the gear oil:
* Unscrew the automatic transmission oil pan drain plug using a hex or square wrench.
* Drain the oil into a measuring container and measure the amount for subsequent replacement.
3. Replace the automatic transmission oil pan filter:
* Unscrew the bolts securing the oil pan to the automatic transmission housing.
*Remove the oil pan and remove the old filter.
* Clean the pan from dirt and install a new filter.
4. Clean the automatic transmission oil pan:
*Clean the oil pan thoroughly with a clean rag or paper towels.
* Clean the surface of the automatic transmission housing where the pan will be installed.
5. Install a new automatic transmission oil pan gasket:
* Apply a thin layer of automatic transmission sealant to both sides of the new gasket.
* Install the gasket on the oil pan.
6. Install the automatic transmission oil pan:
* Screw the oil pan to the automatic transmission housing, tightening the bolts to the recommended torque.
7. Fill with new oil:
* Insert a funnel into the automatic transmission filler hole.
* Fill in as much oil as was previously drained.
8. Check the oil level:
* Start the engine and let it warm up, changing gears in different modes.
* Turn off the engine and wait a few minutes to allow the oil to settle.
* Remove the oil dipstick, wipe it and check the oil level.
* The oil level should be between the “LOW” and “FULL” marks on the dipstick.
9. Add oil if necessary:
* If the oil level is below the “LOW” mark, add a little more oil and check the level again.
10. Resetting the automatic transmission oil change counter:
* Some Toyota Corolla models have an automatic transmission oil change interval counter. To reset the counter, follow these steps:
* Turn on the ignition, but do not start the engine.
* Press the “TRIP” button on the dashboard and hold it for at least 5 seconds.
* Turn off the ignition.
