* Funnel
Procedure:
1. Prepare the car: Raise the car on jacks or use a lift. Install safety supports.
2. Locate the automatic transmission pan: The automatic transmission pan is located at the bottom of the transmission.
3. Drain the old oil: Unscrew the drain bolt on the automatic transmission pan and drain the old oil into a container. Wait until all the oil has drained.
4. Remove the automatic transmission pan: Unscrew the bolts securing the automatic transmission pan to the gearbox. Carefully remove the tray.
5. Replace the oil filter: Remove the old oil filter and install the new one. Make sure the new O-ring is installed correctly.
6. Clean the automatic transmission pan: Clean the automatic transmission pan from old oil and dirt. Install a new gasket on the pan.
7. Install the automatic transmission pan: Install the automatic transmission pan in place and tighten the bolts to the specified torque.
8. Tighten the drain bolt: Replace the drain bolt and tighten it to the specified torque.
9. Fill with new oil: Using a funnel, pour new transmission oil into the automatic transmission. The amount of oil poured depends on the volume of the automatic transmission sump and may vary.
10. Check the oil level: Check the automatic transmission oil level using a dipstick. The level should be between the “Min” and “Max” marks.
11. Start the engine and change gears: Start the engine and change gears from “P” to “D” and back several times. This will help circulate new oil through the system.
12. Recheck the oil level: After you have changed gears, check the oil level again. If necessary, add oil to the “Max” level.
13. Lower the vehicle: Lower the vehicle to the ground and remove the safety supports.
Note:
* It is recommended to change the automatic transmission oil every 60,000-100,000 km. However, the frequency of replacement may vary depending on the operating conditions of the vehicle.
*Always use gear oil recommended by the vehicle manufacturer.
*Specified bolt torque can be found in your vehicle’s service manual.
* If you are not confident in your abilities, it is recommended that you seek help from an experienced mechanic.
