Materials required for changing the oil in the 2018 Prado 150 automatic transmission:
* Original oil for automatic transmission Toyota WS (4 liters)
* New automatic transmission pan gasket
* New automatic transmission filter
* Automatic transmission drain plug
* Automatic transmission oil pan
* Tool set
* Drain pan
Procedure for changing automatic transmission oil:
1. Raise the vehicle and provide access to the underbody. Use a jack and stands or a lift.
2. Remove the crankcase protection. Unscrew the bolts holding the protection in place and carefully remove it.
3. Locate the automatic transmission drain hole. It is usually located at the bottom of the automatic transmission pan.
4. Place a drain pan under the drain hole. Make sure the pan is large enough to accommodate all the oil being drained.
5. Remove the drain plug. Using a wrench, carefully unscrew the drain plug.
6. Allow the oil to drain. This may take some time, so be patient.
7. Tighten the drain plug. Once most of the oil has drained, screw the drain plug back in and tighten it.
8. Remove the automatic transmission pan. Unscrew the bolts holding the pan and carefully remove it.
9. Replace the automatic transmission filter. Remove the old filter from the pan and replace it with a new one.
10. Clean the tray and magnet. Remove any dirt from the tray and magnet and clean the surface of the old gasket.
11. Install a new pan gasket. Clean the surface of the pan and automatic transmission and install a new gasket.
12. Reinstall the automatic transmission pan. Carefully press the pan against the automatic transmission and tighten the bolts.
13. Fill the automatic transmission with new oil. Using a funnel, pour new oil into the automatic transmission through the oil dipstick hole.
14. Check the oil level. Check the oil level on the dipstick while the engine is running. Add oil if necessary.
15. Reset the automatic transmission oil aging counter. Locate the DLC3 connector (usually located under the dash) and short the TC and CG pins using a jumper wire for 5 seconds. After this, start the engine and leave it idling for 10 minutes.
16. Check the vehicle for leaks. After installation, inspect the car for oil leaks from the automatic transmission.
Notes:
* It is recommended to change the automatic transmission oil every 60,000 – 80,000 km.
* It is important to use original Toyota WS oil intended for this Prado model.
* If you are not confident in your abilities, have the automatic transmission oil changed by a qualified mechanic.
