Materials required for changing automatic transmission oil:
* Automatic transmission oil for Mazda M-V (approximately 5 liters)
* New automatic transmission pan gasket
* New automatic transmission filter
* New pan plug o-ring
* New pan plug
* Extension for ratchet
* 10 mm socket or wrench
* 17 mm socket or wrench
* Funnel
* Rags
Instructions for changing automatic transmission oil:
1. Prepare the car. Set the vehicle’s parking brake and place wheel chocks under the rear wheels. Allow the engine to cool for at least 30 minutes.
2. Raise the car. Raise the car using a jack or lift. Support the vehicle for safety.
3. Remove the engine crankcase protection. Using a 10 mm socket wrench or socket, remove the bolts securing the crankcase guard. Remove protection.
4. Find the automatic transmission pan. The automatic transmission pan is located at the bottom of the gearbox. It is usually made of metal with a small oil drain plug in the corner.
5. Unscrew the drain plug. Using a 17mm socket or socket, carefully loosen the drain plug. Carefully! The oil may be hot.
6. Drain the oil. Place a container under the drain hole and allow the oil to drain. It may take some time for all the oil to drain out.
7. Replace the drain plug. Install a new seal washer onto the drain plug and tighten it to 30 lb-ft (41 Nm).
8. Remove the automatic transmission pan. Using a 10 mm socket wrench or socket, unscrew the bolts securing the automatic transmission pan. Remove the pan carefully as it may contain oil residue.
9. Replace the automatic transmission filter. Remove the old automatic transmission filter from the filter housing and install the new filter. Tighten the filter mounting bolts.
10. Clean the tray and magnets. Using a rag, clean the transmission pan and magnets of any metal particles or debris.
11. Install a new pan gasket. Apply a thin layer of adhesive to the new pan gasket and install it onto the pan.
12. Install the automatic transmission pan. Install the automatic transmission pan onto the transmission and tighten the mounting bolts. Torque the bolts to 16 lb-ft (22 Nm).
13. Fill with new automatic transmission oil. Using a funnel, pour about 5 liters of new Mazda M-V automatic transmission oil into the gearbox.
14. Check the oil level. Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes. Shift the gearshift lever to all positions and return to the park position.
15. Check the oil level. Remove the oil dipstick and wipe it clean. Insert the dipstick back into the hole and remove it again. The oil level should be between the “cold” and “hot” marks on the dipstick.
16. Add oil if necessary. If the oil level is too low, add oil through the filler hole located on the side of the transmission.
17. Check for leaks. Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes. Check the automatic transmission pan for leaks.
18. Install the engine crankcase protection. Install the engine crankcase protection and tighten the mounting bolts.
19. Reset the oil change counter on the instrument panel. Press and hold the odometer switch button until “— — — —” appears. Press and hold the button again until “OIL – 15000” is displayed. Release the button.
The automatic transmission oil was changed successfully.
