* New automatic transmission oil filter
* New automatic transmission pan gasket
* Automatic transmission air filter (optional)
* Key for automatic transmission pan
* Funnel
* Gloves
* Clean rag
* Container for draining old oil
Instructions for changing automatic transmission oil:
1. Raise the car and place it on stands. Make sure the vehicle is on a level surface and securely secured.
2. Find the automatic transmission pan. It is usually located at the bottom of the gearbox.
3. Remove the engine crankcase protection (if equipped). This may be required to access the automatic transmission pan.
4. Install a container to drain old oil under the automatic transmission pan.
5. Loosen the automatic transmission pan bolts. Do not unscrew them completely.
6. Carefully remove the automatic transmission pan. The old oil will start to leak out, so be careful.
7. Remove the old automatic transmission oil filter. It is usually located inside the tray.
8. Clean the automatic transmission pan and install a new oil filter. Make sure the rubber seal on the filter is seated correctly.
9. Install a new gasket on the automatic transmission pan.
10. Place the automatic transmission pan back into place. Tighten the bolts evenly to ensure proper sealing.
11. Pour new automatic transmission oil into the gearbox through the dipstick hole. Use a funnel to avoid spills.
12. Insert the dipstick back and check the oil level. The level should be between the “HOT” and “COLD” marks on the dipstick.
13. Start the engine and let it idle. Switch the automatic transmission selector through all positions and return to the parking position.
14. Check the oil level again. If necessary, add oil to the required level.
15. Clean up the spilled oil and install the engine crankcase protection back in place.
Additional tips:
* Replace the automatic transmission air filter, if available. This will help prevent contaminants from getting into the automatic transmission oil.
* Use only Hyundai/Kia SP-III automatic transmission oil. Using the wrong oil may damage the transmission.
* Dispose of old automatic transmission oil and filter in accordance with local regulations.
* Check the automatic transmission oil level and condition regularly to ensure optimal performance.
