Changing the oil in the automatic transmission of Hyundai Grand Starex

Materials:

* New automatic transmission oil (quantity depending on model)
* New automatic transmission filter
* New automatic transmission pan gasket
* Drain plug

Tools:

* Socket wrenches
* Flat blade screwdriver
* O-rings for filter cover (if necessary)
* Funnel

Steps:

1. Raise the car. Place the vehicle on a lift or ramps to provide access to the underbody.

2. Remove the crankcase protection (if equipped). If necessary, remove the crankcase protection, which blocks access to the automatic transmission pan.

3. Warm up the engine. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes to warm up the automatic transmission oil.

4. Determine the location of the drain hole. The drain hole is located on the automatic transmission pan.

5. Place a container under the drain hole. Place a container of at least 5 liters under the drain hole to catch the old oil.

6. Unscrew the drain plug. Using a socket wrench, carefully unscrew the drain plug. Oil will begin to flow into the container.

7. Drain the oil. Allow the oil to drain completely into the container.

8. Remove the automatic transmission pan. Unscrew the bolts holding the automatic transmission pan. Gently tap the pan to loosen it. Use a flat blade screwdriver to pry up the tray and remove it.

9. Replace the automatic transmission filter. Remove the old automatic transmission filter from the pan and install a new one. If necessary, replace the O-rings on the filter cover.

10. Wash and install the automatic transmission pan. Clean the automatic transmission pan from old oil and dirt. Install the new gasket onto the pan and screw it back into place.

11. Fill the automatic transmission with new oil. Using a funnel, pour new automatic transmission oil into the transmission. The amount of oil that needs to be filled depends on the car model. Check the oil level using the dipstick.

12. Warm up the engine and check the oil level. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes to distribute the new oil throughout the automatic transmission. Check the oil level again and add if necessary.

13. Put everything back in place. Reinstall all removed components in reverse order.
