Changing the oil in a Nissan Pathfinder automatic transmission

Materials:

*Nissan NS-3 automatic transmission oil or equivalent
* New automatic transmission filter
* New automatic transmission pan gasket
* O-ring for drain plug
* Funnel or pump for transferring liquid
* Tool set
* Rags or napkins

Steps:

1. Prepare the vehicle: Place the vehicle on a level surface and set the parking brake. Start the engine and warm it up to operating temperature.

2. Locate and disconnect the transmission coolant hose: Locate the hose that connects the automatic transmission to the radiator. Disconnect the hose and plug the radiator hole to prevent fluid leakage.

3. Drain the old oil: Place a drain pan under the transmission. Using a wrench, unscrew the drain plug and allow the old oil to drain.

4. Remove the automatic transmission pan: After all the oil has been drained, unscrew the bolts holding the automatic transmission pan. Remove the pan carefully as there may be residual oil inside.

5. Replace the automatic transmission filter: Inspect and replace the old automatic transmission filter with a new one. Make sure the O-ring on the new filter is lubricated with fresh oil.

6. Clean the pan and gasket: Clean the automatic transmission pan and the old gasket from any remaining oil or debris. If necessary, replace the gasket with a new one.

7. Install the automatic transmission pan: Apply a small amount of fresh fluid to the gasket and install the automatic transmission pan in place. Torque the bolts to the specified specifications.

8. Fill the Transmission with Oil: Using a funnel or pump, fill the transmission with the required amount of Nissan NS-3 automatic transmission oil. Check the fill level using the automatic transmission dipstick.

9. Connect the transmission coolant hose: Connect the transmission coolant hose back to the radiator. Make sure everything is tight.

10. Start the engine and check the fluid level: Start the engine and let it idle. Check the fluid level again using the automatic transmission dipstick. Add oil if necessary.

11. Check for Leaks: Wait a few minutes to make sure there are no oil leaks from the transmission.

Notes:

* The frequency of automatic transmission oil changes varies depending on the model and year of manufacture of the vehicle. Refer to the instruction manual for exact recommendations.
*Using the correct type of oil and filter is very important. Incorrect fluids can damage the transmission.
*If you are unsure how to perform this procedure, please seek professional help.
