Mechanical symptoms:
*Slip: The inability of the transmission to transfer power smoothly from the engine to the wheels, resulting in a feeling of slipping or hesitation during acceleration.
* Jerky: Rough gear changes, especially when shifting from low to high gears.
* Shift lag: The transmission is slow to shift to another gear or skips shifting altogether.
* Vibration: Severe vibration or rattling when driving, especially at certain speeds.
* Noise: An unusual noise or hum while driving, such as bearings humming or metal grinding against metal.
* Stuck: The transmission gets stuck in a certain gear or won’t shift at all.
Electrical Symptoms:
* Dashboard Error: The Check Engine Light or transmission error code comes on on the dashboard.
*Hydraulic Pump Failure: The hydraulic pump is responsible for supplying pressure to the transmission. Failure to do so may result in gear shifting problems or slipping.
* Sensor fault: Sensors in the transmission may monitor rotation speed, temperature or position. A malfunction of any sensor can affect transmission performance.
* Malfunctioning solenoid valves: Solenoid valves control the flow of fluid in the transmission. Their malfunction can lead to problems with gear shifting.
Other symptoms:
*Transmission Fluid Leaking: Transmission fluid leaking may indicate damaged seals or gaskets.
* Burning smell: A strong burning smell coming from the transmission may indicate overheating or excessive wear.
*Poor Fuel Economy: A faulty transmission can reduce power transmission efficiency, resulting in increased fuel consumption.
