Hyundai Tucson automatic transmission filters
External filter:
* Located on the automatic transmission housing, near the oil pan.
Internal filter:
* Located inside the automatic transmission housing.
* Cannot be replaced during normal automatic transmission maintenance.
Steps to replace the external automatic transmission filter:
1. Raise the vehicle on a lift or use a jack and stands.
2. Unscrew the oil pan drain plug and drain the oil from the automatic transmission.
3. Remove the oil pan by unscrewing the mounting screws.
4. Remove the outer filter from the oil pan.
5. Install a new filter.
6. Reinstall the oil pan and tighten the mounting screws.
7. Install a new drain plug gasket and tighten it.
8. Fill in fresh automatic transmission oil through the filler plug.
9. Check the automatic transmission oil level.
