How to use a Toyota automatic transmission
Gear selector:
*P (Park): Locks the transmission when the vehicle is parked.
* R (Reverse): Activates reverse gear.
* N (Neutral): disengages the transmission and leaves the engine idling.
* D (Drive): Main gear for forward movement.
*3 (Third Gear): Limits transmission to third gear for additional engine braking.
*2 (Second Gear): Limits shifting to second gear for even greater engine braking and improved traction on slippery surfaces.
* L (First Gear): Limits shifting to first gear for maneuvering at very low speeds or on steep grades.
Use:
1. Make sure the car is parked, the handbrake is on and the engine is running.
2. Press the brake pedal.
3. Move the gear selector to the desired position.
4. Release the brake pedal and lightly press the gas pedal to start the car moving.
5. To shift to a higher gear, simply release the gas pedal and let the car shift on its own.
6. To shift to a lower gear, press the «+» or «-» button on the gear selector.
7. When approaching a stop, gently press the brake pedal.
8. Move the gear selector to position P when the vehicle has come to a complete stop.
Adviсe:
* Never change the gear selector while the vehicle is moving.
* Shift to lower gears when going down steep slopes or on slippery surfaces.
