For most vehicles with automatic transmission:

1. Place your foot on the brake pedal.
2. Move the gear shift lever to the “N” (neutral) position. In this case, the brake pedal must be pressed.
3. Release the brake pedal.

For some vehicles with automatic transmission:

1. Press the button or lever designed to engage neutral. It is usually located next to the gear shift lever.
2. Move the gear shift lever to the “N” (neutral) position.

Note:

*Always put the vehicle in neutral when the vehicle is stationary and parked.
* Do not put the vehicle in neutral while the vehicle is moving, as this may result in loss of control.
* On some vehicles with automatic transmission, the “N” position may be locked if the vehicle is not in Park (P) condition. In this case, you may need to unlock the gear selector to engage neutral.
