Rules for towing a car with an automatic transmission:

1. Check the fluid level in the automatic transmission. Make sure the fluid level is between the “MIN” and “MAX” marks on the dipstick.

2. Move the automatic transmission selector to the neutral position (N). This will allow the transmission input shaft to rotate without engaging gears.

3. Turn the ignition key to the “ACC” or “ON” position. This will provide power to the vehicle’s electrical systems, including the steering and brakes.

4. Tow the vehicle slowly. Start driving at a speed of no more than 50 km/h. Ideal speed for towing a car with automatic transmission: 40-50 km/h.

5. Avoid sudden braking and acceleration. Excessive load on the transmission can damage it.

6. Tow the vehicle short distances. Do not tow a vehicle with an automatic transmission over long distances. The recommended maximum towing distance is 80 km. If you need to tow a car over long distances, it is recommended to use a special car transporter.

7. Stop and let the automatic transmission cool down. If you tow your vehicle for a long time, make regular stops to allow the transmission to cool.

8. Do not tow the vehicle backwards. Towing a vehicle with an automatic transmission backwards may damage the transmission.

9. Use a rigid hitch for towing. A rigid coupling provides a reliable connection between vehicles and allows the transfer of traction force.

10. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions. Consult your vehicle’s owner’s manual for any special towing requirements or restrictions.

Additionally:

*Do not exceed manufacturer’s specified towing speed and trailer weight.
* Monitor the automatic transmission temperature while towing.
*If you notice any unusual sounds or smells while towing, stop immediately and consult a mechanic.
